A homicide suspect has been captured by police after 16 years on the run, during which period he became the head of a research institute, Guizhou Metropolitan Daily reported on Tuesday.

Ren Yuefeng, the suspect from Yunnan province, was caught in Guizhou province last week, where he had changed his name and took a high-ranking position at a branch of a research institute’s branch.

He was suspected to have killed the elder brother of Yang Shunming, who wanted to quit his job at a restaurant owned by Ren’s girlfriend after Yang’s brother found the restaurant was involved in illegal businesses.

After Ren fled, Yang worked in different places trying to hunt down Ren. He finally found Ren at a gathering of people from Yunnan province who worked in Guizhou, and reported him to the police.
