Flash flood traps people in SW China village

NANNING, June 9 (Xinhua) -- A flash flood caused by lingering rainstorm inundated several low-lying houses in a village in an autonomous county heavily populated by Miao ethnic group in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on Sunday.

Firefighters are carrying out the rescue in Xiaorong Village, Rongshui County. The exact number of people trapped in the flood is not immediately available.

Rescuers have helped get three people out of the flooded houses.
