Four killed in China residential building fire

NANCHANG, June 16 (Xinhua) -- Four people were killed and another was injured after a fire engulfed a residential building in east China's Jiangxi Province early Sunday, fire fighters said.

The fire broke out at about 5 a.m. in the residential building in the county seat of Xinjian, the county fire brigade said in a press release. The injured person has been sent to hospital for medical treatment.

Another 42 residents were rescued from the building by fire fighters, who have put out the fire, said the release.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is under way.
