5 dead in NW China bus accident

LANZHOU, July 24 (Xinhua) -- Five people were killed and 14 others were injured in an auto accident that occurred Wednesday afternoon in northwest China's Gansu Province, local authorities said.

The accident occurred around 2:05 p.m., when a bus overturned on a section of highway in Yuzhong County in the city of Lanzhou, local police said.

Four people died at the scene, while another died after medical treatment failed, the police said.

The injured, including five in severe condition, are being treated at a local hospital.

A further investigation into the crash is under way.
