China's Ministry of Education and the National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC) said Tuesday they will launch a survey of health services in the nation's nurseries and kindergartens.

From September to October, authorities will conduct a field survey and provide guidance, said the NHFPC, adding that authorities will enter and analyze the data and make a report between November and December.

The survey will focus on policy implementation and regulations relevant to health services in nurseries and kindergartens. It will also assess medical room settings, health workers, children's nutrition, prevention of diseases and injuries, epidemic control and other services.

Targets of the field survey include nurseries and kindergartens with more than 30 children enrolled and with licenses from education authorities, regardless of whether they are publicly-funded, privately-funded or enterprise-funded.

The authorities will survey between 4,500 and 6,000 nurseries and kindergartens around the country, including 150 to 200 in each provincial region, said the NHFPC.

As of 2012, China had a total of 181,300 nurseries and kindergartens to care for approximately 36 million children.
