5 buried in NW China building collapse

Five people have been buried and 16 others injured when a building collapsed Saturday afternoon in northwest China's Qinghai Province, local authorities said.

The collapse happened around 2:30 p.m. at a construction site in the Da Qaidam (also known as Dachaidan) district in the Mongolian-Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Haixi, according to sources with the CPC party committee of the prefecture.

Rescue work is under way. The cause of the accident is being investigated.
