Qi Youpeng, 91, has worked as a forester since 1972 in a local forest. When he was 51, He started planted trees together with another 15 villagers. Now he has turned the deserted hill green and protected more than 166 hectares of forest. Because of the low pay of the hard job, his partners left one by one. At last, he became the only forester in the forest. Four decades later, Qi has planted more than 570,000 trees and the forest brought an annual income of 20,000 yuan (about 3,300 U.S. dollars) to the village.
