MILAN, July 25 (Xinhua) -- An increased cooperation between the cities of Milan and Guangzhou was discussed at a business conference hosted here Wednesday, and is expected to pay the way for stronger Italy-China economic ties.
The leaders of Guangzhou Municipal Government, officials from the economic and trade authorities and enterprises of related industries met at the "China (Guangzhou) and Italy Promotion Conference" with the representatives of Italian business circle to explore the market potential and business opportunities.
The new cooperation path was marked by a memorandum of understanding to strengthen economic, scientific and cultural cooperation that was signed early on Wednesday by the Milan and Guangzhou municipalities in the presence of Wan Qingliang, Secretary of CPC Guangzhou Municipal Committee, and Milan Mayor Giuliano Pisapia.
Over 40 investment projects were discussed at the business conference by more than 60 entrepreneurs from the southern Chinese metropolitan and their counterparts of Italy's northern developed regions in a number of sectors including automobile, electronics, machinery, fashion, technology and healthcare.
A rich fashion show highlighted the best outcome of the Guangzhou design industry displaying a number of clothing creations to an enchanted public.
Indeed, there are many reasons why Milan and Guangzhou can be considered "gateways" to their respective countries thus can increasingly cooperate to further promote bilateral relations, Wan said in his keynote speech at the conference.
"Guangzhou has all along attached great importance to collaboration with Italy," he said, recalling the number of fields offering win-win opportunities such as branding, creative design, personal training, scientific research and development.
