
VILNIUS, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- Yan Junqi, a senior Chinese legislator, on Monday met with the Lithuanian parliament speaker to promote ties between the two countries' legislatures.
Yan, vice chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, China's top legislature, said during a meeting with Speaker Irena Degutiene that China and Lithuania together have achieved great accomplishments in commerce, transportation, agriculture, culture, education, technology and other sectors.
"China sees Lithuania as an important cooperative partner in the European Union and the Baltic Sea region," Yan said. "China will continuously make efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various fields and mutual friendship with Lithuania."
The Lithuanian speaker spoke highly of good relations and cooperation between the two countries. The speaker stressed that Lithuania would adhere to the one-China policy, promote bilateral relations, and help achieve more through exchanges and cooperation between the two legislatures.
Yan, leading an NPC delegation, left Beijing Saturday for a visit to Lithuania, Denmark and Sweden.
