WARSAW, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski said on Tuesday Poland attaches great importance to relations with China and he will continue to push forward the development of bilateral ties.
His visit to China last year was a complete success, Komorowski said when Xu Jian, the new Chinese Ambassador to Poland, presented his credentials.
This year, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao's visit to Poland injected strong impetus into the development of bilateral ties, Komorowski added.
The relations between Poland and China are developing well, with increasingly close contacts in political, economic, cultural and other fields, the president said.
With joint efforts of both sides, the pragmatic cooperation between the two countries will be further strengthened, he believed.
Ambassador Xu echoed Komorowski's remarks, saying that the exchange of visits between leaders of the two countries strongly promoted the development of bilateral relations.
He said China has always attached great importance to developing relations with Poland.
He is willing to make joint efforts with the Polish side to earnestly implement the understanding reached by leaders of the two countries, continue to expand bilateral pragmatic cooperation and push forward the strategic partnership between the two countries, Xu said.
China and Poland, whose diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level began on Oct. 7, 1949, established friendly cooperative partnership in 2004 and strategic partnership in 2011.
In recent years, the two countries have seen rapid development of their pragmatic cooperation in various fields. Poland has been China's largest trading partner in Central and Eastern Europe for seven consecutive years. Bilateral trade amounted to 13 billion U.S. dollars in 2011, up by 16.7 percent from the previous year.
