MOSCOW, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- China has made extraordinary achievements under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), a senior Russian Communist leader said ahead of a key CPC congress next month.
"The CPC, as the core of the Chinese political system, has accumulated vast experience in solving complex problems," Valentin Kuptsov, a member and former first secretary of the Central Committee of Russia's Communist Party, told Xinhua in a recent interview.
"It is the experience that has helped China to make such progress and advance in the right direction," said Kuptsov, who is also a former deputy chairman of the State Duma, or the lower house of parliament.
Speaking highly of China's development in recent years, the 75-year-old senior Communist leader credited these achievements to two key factors on the part of the CPC.
The first is that the CPC respects the Marxist theory and has formulated its own development path in accordance with China's realities, while the second is that the CPC is closely attached to the Chinese people, he said.
"China has proved to be a good example that shows a country could be promising only with the support of the masses," he said.
Speaking of international affairs, Kuptsov said that the CPC leadership has played a constructive role in expanding cooperation with other countries.
"At such a difficult time, in a changing world, the CPC leadership has made a strategic decision to enhance cooperation with all the nations, which has raised its prestige in the international arena," he said.
