With the conclusion of U.S. presidential election and the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the future of Sino-U.S. relations, the world’s most complicated bilateral ties, becomes the focus of public concerns.
During the first term of office, the Obama Administration was not fully aware of the contradiction and complexity of Sino-U.S. relations, and failed to find a right way of coexisting with China against the backdrop of deepening economic globalization and political multi-polarization.
U.S. shift of strategic focus includes multiple strategic intents, including containing China. The aggravation of Sino-U.S. game of strategy severely hampers Sino-U.S. relations.
China has consistently adhered to the path of peaceful development. Having weathered through many trials and hardships, Sino-U.S. relations feature relatively stable cooperation at present.
In the years to come, the cooperation and competition between China and the United States will increase. Both countries must make joint efforts, strive for win-win and mutually-beneficial situation, and conduct benign competitions, to build a new type of relations between great powers.
The establishment of new type of Sino-U.S. relationship characterized by mutual respect and mutual benefits has realistic bases.
