BEIJING, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- China's top political adviser Jia Qinglin's trip to Italy, Costa Rica and Argentina has boosted bilateral ties between China and the three nations, according to a senior official.

Jia's trip enhanced friendship, expanded consensus, deepened cooperation and sought common development, Wang Shenghong, deputy secretary-general of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) said Wednesday.

Wang, who accompanied Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the CPPCC, said it was the first time a CPPCC leader visited Costa Rica and Argentina, and was also the first trip by a top political adviser to Italy in 14 years.

Jia, during his tour from late November to early December, met government and parliament leaders of the three nations, exchanging views on bilateral ties and global and regional issues of common concern, Wang said, adding Jia also briefed the leaders on the 18th Communist Party of China (CPC) National Congress, which was concluded last month.

The trip bore great significance in introducing the spirit of China's CPC congress to the international community, showcasing the country's good image of peaceful development, boosting the comprehensive and in-depth development of bilateral ties between China and the nations, and raising China's cooperation level with European and Latin American countries, Wang said.
