Senior Chinese leader meets Sudanese delegation

BEIJING, June 27 (Xinhua) -- Senior Communist Party of China (CPC) leader Liu Yunshan on Thursday met with a delegation of Sudan's ruling National Congress Party (NCP).

Liu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureauof the CPC Central Committee, said both sides have the common taskof developing their economies and improving people's livelihoods.

China would like to work with Sudan to seek common development and promote bilateral relations, Liu said.

Liu said the CPC would like to step up exchanges with the NCP at all levels, enhance political trust, expand areas of cooperation and make more contributions to the development of bilateral relations.

Nafie Ali Nafie, Sudanese presidential assistant and vice chairman of the NCP, said China has been a positive force in supporting peace and development in Sudan and Africa.

Nafie said Sudan is satisfied with the development of its relations with China and will continue to maintain a friendly policy towards China, as well as firmly support China's efforts tosafeguard its core interests.

Nafie is leading the NCP delegation for a weeklong China visit.
