BEIJING, July 2 (Xinhua) -- China's top political advisor Yu Zhengsheng met with visiting First Deputy Speaker of the Thai Senate Surachai Liengboonlertchai on Tuesday.
Yu said China and Thailand have long been good neighbors and China-Thailand relations have become a model for friendly neighbors and mutually beneficial cooperation between countries with different social systems.
Yu, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), said China places great importance on developing friendly relations with Thailand.
He said China is ready to maintain the momentum of high-level contact, advance major cooperation projects, deepen mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples and continuously push forward the development of the comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership between the two countries.
Surachai said the Thai government and parliament are working to develop relations with China.
He said the Thai side is ready to further play a positive role in enhancing cooperation between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and China.
