Senior CPC official meets South African guests

BEIJING, July 12 (Xinhua) -- Meng Jianzhu, a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), met with a delegation from South Africa here on Friday.

The delegation was headed by Obed Bapela, deputy minister in the presidency and chairman of the international relations subcommittee of the African National Congress (ANC) of South Africa. The delegation is in China for a workshop on governance, the fifth since 2009.

Meng, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, lauded the traditional friendship between the CPC and the ANC, saying the cooperation between the two ruling parties has laid a solid political foundation for the bilateral ties between the two countries.

Meng, also secretary of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Central Committee, said China looks at the relationship between the two parties from a long-term and strategic perspective and will make joint efforts with the ANC to deepen exchanges on governance experience.

Bapela said the ANC attaches great importance to ties with the CPC and hopes to learn more from China about governance.
