BEIJING, July 20 (Xinhua) -- China here Saturday said to welcome Palestine and Israel for resuming peace talks and appreciate efforts made by relevant sides to revive the stalled talks.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswomen Hua Chunying made the remarks in response to a journalist's question.

Hua said that China hoped Palestine and Israel "to overcome difficulties" and strive for reaching "concrete results at an early date" after they relaunched the talks next week.

In this year alone, Hua said, China has made endeavors to persuade both countries to resume the peace talks when receiving Palestinian and Isreali leaders during their China tours earlier this year, and later hosted an international conference in China to show support to Palestine-Israel peace talks.

"Chinese President Xi Jinping has made four-point proposal to resolve the Palestinian issue," she said.

China, along with the international community, is willing to play an active and constructive role for seeking a comprehensive and fair solution to the Palestinian issue, she said.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said in Amman, capital of Jordan, on Friday that Palestinian and Israeli officials will meet in Washington next week to look into details of resuming the peace process, according to earlier media report.

Israeli-Palestinian direct peace talks stopped in October 2010 after Israel insisted on continuing settlements-building in the West Bank and east Jerusalem.
