BEIJING,Sept. 21 -- A working group session on eliminating tariffs of the Trans-Pacific Partnership will kick off today. The talks are held in Washington D.C. and will last to Monday.

The TPP countries agreed in late July to put 95 percent of their respective tariffs on the negotiation table by September 20th. The discussions are likely to start with the presentation of proposed tariff-free items.

For Japan, which joined the talks in late July, this week's sessions are expected to provide further opportunities for Japan to negotiate retaining tariffs on sensitive farm products.

Talks on the TPP began seven years ago and is intended to eventually become a region-wide trading bloc covering a third of global trade.
