Chinese security chief meets Myanmar guest

BEIJING, Nov. 14 -- China's security chief Meng Jianzhu met here Thursday with Myanmar Minister of Home Affairs Lieutenant-General Ko Ko.

Meng, secretary of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said China and Myanmar have made remarkable achievements in security and law enforcement cooperation.

He expressed hope that the two sides can earnestly implement the consensus reached by leaders of the two countries by deepening practical cooperation in these fields. He said China is ready to advance the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Ko Ko said Myanmar places importance on friendly ties with China, and is ready to cooperate more in security and law enforcement.

Ko Ko is in Beijing to attend a China-Myanmar ministerial meeting on security and law enforcement cooperation. Chinese State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Guo Shengkun attended the meeting.
