BEIJING, Jan. 14 -- Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev said on Tuesday that agriculture and food processing will become new highlights in cooperation with China.

Plevneliev said that the country always attaches great importance to agricultural cooperation with China and wishes to deepen it.

He said that a number of Chinese companies have invested in agriculture in Bulgaria and agreements regarding corn exports to China have been signed.

The country will next negotiate with China on dairy trade, the president said while attending a China-Bulgaria economic and trade forum in Beijing.

Bulgaria's exports to China doubled in 2012 and bilateral trade during the past decade grew four-fold.

The president said that the country also wishes to step up joint work with China in sectors including infrastructure construction, energy, new materials and high technology. Meanwhile, it will offer favorable conditions to attract more Chinese tourists and investment.

Plevneliev arrived in China on Sunday for a four-day state visit at Chinese President Xi Jinping's invitation.
