China eyes Africa visit to strengthen ties

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang will be on a four nation tour of Africa beginning next week. This is the first that Li will be visiting Africa since he assumed office in 2013. The upcoming visit is expected to cement comprehensive cooperation partnership and take bilateral ties between China and African countries to a new high.

Li's first stop will be Ethiopia, where he will attend the completion ceremony of a highway constructed by Chinese corporations. He will visit an industrial park and hold a seminar with businessmen from China and African countries. He will also give a speech at the African Union convention center in the capital city Addis Ababa.

The next leg of the tour is Nigeria, where he will attend the 2014 World Economic Forum on Africa to be held in Abuja, the Nigerian capital.In the third stop, Li will hold a seminar with Chinese companies and overseas Chinese during his stay in Angola.In Kenya, which will be the last stop of his visit, Li will meet UN officials and discuss with them China’s cooperation with the UN.

During the four-nation tour, Li will hold talks and meet leaders of the countries and Chairperson of the AU Commission. Nearly 60 deals will be signed, covering cooperation in areas such as trade, health, culture, agriculture and personnel training.
