Editor's noteIn September 2008 Sanlu Group came to world attention due to product concerns regarding its infant milk formula, which was discovered to have been contaminated with melamine, a non-alimentary chemical whick cause kidney stones. All together 294,000 infants were found to have suffered from diseases of urinary systems and six infants have died. On 15 September, Sanlu issued a public apology and was ordered to halt production, destroy all unsold and recalled products. |
