66-year-old Uncle Han lives in Pingba District in Chongqing, southwest China. In the eyes of his neighbors, he is a playful old man who "chases wind" every day on something that probably wasn't designed for people of his generation in mind.

"I bought the electric scooter last October because I've got arthritis, and the doctor advised me not to walk too much," Uncle Han said. "It cost me 3,300 yuan."

According to Uncle Han, the scooter can travel as fast as 35km/h, and as far as 20 to 30 kilometers once fully charged. It can also be folded and carried onto bus.

"I ride it to buy groceries, sometimes to the library, or just roam around the city," Uncle Han said.

It comes as no surprise that Uncle Han elicit a lot of attention when he hits the road with the scooter.

"People would approach me and ask me about the scooter, this and that, some say it's 'so cool'. Well, I just bought it as a vehicle," he said.

A security guard in Uncle Han's neighborhood said he was at first worried about Han's safety when he saw him on the scooter.

"I myself dare not try it," said the guard, "but it's a relief seeing him riding it so well."

"It feels like drifting when I ride it at full speed, but I never ride it when the traffic gets heavy. Safety comes first," Uncle Han said.
