In order to reinforce the capability of the industry in shielding against market risks, improve the core competitiveness of the industry, and strengthen the healthy development of the coffee industry, Pu'er City started the construction of Yunnan Coffee Warehouse and Trade Center.

On February 13, the Municipal Party Committee of Pu'er held a special study session on the details of the work. Wei Xing, Party chief of Pu'er, pointed out that the output of the Pu'er coffee took a prominent proportion in China's gross production of coffee, and that only by reinforcing and strengthening the coffee industry can Pu'er deserve the name and position as the "coffee capital of China".

Wei Xing emphasized that the establishment of the Coffee Warehouse and Trade Center in Pu'er would boost the organic combination of the production place and the sales market, propel the production-marketing integration of coffee, and promote the quality of the coffee production, which will preserve and increase the value of the product. It will also enhance the decision power and pricing power of Pu'er in the entire coffee industry, which will further strengthen the capability of Pu'er to regulate and control the market while boosting a faster development of the coffee industry in Pu'er.

Kunming Jinyuan Flower Industry Co., Ltd., recommended by the Department of Agriculture of Yunnan Province, is the largest flower enterprise in Yunnan that integrates flower production, R&D, promotion, reprocessing and sales. The sales network of its major production - fresh-cut flowers in Kunming, covers more than 70 percent of the entire Chinese market. The cooperation between Pu'er City and the enterprise in building Yunnan Coffee Warehouse and Trade Center could bring out both the advantages of the government in consolidating resources and the market operation of the government, which will reinforce resource complementarities and mutual strength, and boost the development of the Pu'er coffee industry.

Wei Xing has already requested related municipal departments and Kunming Jinyuan Flower Industry Co., Ltd. to deal with this issue on a political level, to facilitate the construction plan, to determine their cooperation model as scientific as possible, and to speed up the construction process through the target-oriented responsibility system, so that the building of the Yunnan Coffee Warehouse and Trade Center will be finished as soon as possible.

According to Qian Dewei, Deputy Party chief and Mayor of Pu'er, Pu'er enjoys exceptional advantages to develop the coffee industry, which is endowed with a splendid future. In the next five to ten years to come, Pu'er will emphasize the development of the coffee industry during the building of the special highland agriculture by enlarging the cultivation area into more than 1 million mu. For a long period, the global coffee price suffers from fluctuations due to the supply-demand relationship and the international capital hype every now and then.

In order to improve the healthy and sustainable development of the coffee industry and to ameliorate the industrial chain, it is more than necessary to build the Coffee Warehouse and Trade Center. Qian Dewei has requested related departments to work out the detailed construction plans as soon as possible, and to integrate the resources to push forward all the preliminary work.

Meanwhile, he hopes that local enterprises can take the building of the Coffee Warehouse and Trade Center as a starting point before they bring more projects, such as the Pu'er tea, special agricultural products of Pu'er, and deep-processed coffee into the market to showcase their brands on a win-win basis.
