A young Chinese couple held their wedding ceremony at the South Pole on Feb 25, 2014 after their 36,000-nautical-mile global voyage. The couple has received blessing words from several political leaders from countries including Germany, Poland, Sweden and Ghana.
"Loving is not just looking at each other, it's looking in the same direction," German Chancellor Angela Merkel quotes from French novel the Little Prince to congratulate the Chinese couple.
Zhang Xinyu, the groom is one year elder than Liang Hong, the bride. They are close friends since they were little children. Zhang met Liang in primary school when Zhang stayed down for a year because of failure in final exams. He once promised Liang a romantic marriage proposal at North Pole and a unique wedding at South Pole.
The couple from Langfang in north China's Hebei Province, started their voyage with four friends in Hong Kong in July 2013. On October 15, 2013, the couple got registered in Las Vegas during their global travel. They stopped for in-depth visits to different regions while passing through more than 30 cities in 24 countries.
