Tu Tian'en, 64, runs a smithy in downtown areas in Nanchang, capital of central China's Jiangxi province. He still uses traditional way to forge iron, which is rarely seen in modern cities.

Two portraits are hung on the wall in the smithy. "They are my father and grandfather," said Tu Tian'en. My father learned to forge iron since he was 12. He opened the shop in 1946. I inherited my father's craft and business.

"My children think blacksmith is hard manual labor. Nobody wants to inherit the business. What's more, the shop in the old city of Nanchang faces relocation. It may disappear someday," said Tu with regrets.
