Three 4G licenses in the TD-LTE mode were officially granted to China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom on Dec. 4, 2013.

500 billion yuan of potential investment

According to insiders’ assessments, about 500 billion yuan of investment will result from the initial stage of the network building.

For consumers, one of the great benefits will be the speed of internet access. The 4G network can reach a download speed that is ten times faster than the 3G network

China Mobile to be the first pilot

This year China Mobile is investing 41.7 billion yuan in building 200,000 TD-LTE base stations, covering more than 300 cities. At the same time the company has been selling 4G phones in many cities, along with 4G network packages.

4G now covers the North East Third Ring and Liangguang Road in the south of Beijing.

China Mobile will officially launch the brand-new commercial brand “和”( harmonious)which means that China Mobile will be the first carrier to launch 4G.

4G could be cheaper

Judging by 4G network charges in other countries, 4G will be cheaper than 3G, especially with regard to data downloads.
The theoretical download speed of 4G can be as fast as 80 MB/s, although it achieves only 30-40MB/s download speed in practice.

A change that will transform the whole industry

It is recognized within the industry that 4G offers a chance to bring major changes to the information technology industry, especially in terms of its impact on the network carriers.
