HONG KONG, July 3 -- The number of sale and purchase agreements for residential units in June in Hong Kong was 5,960, up 13.1 percent on May and 59.4 percent year-on-year, the city's Land Registry announced Thursday.

The total consideration for residential sale and purchase agreements was 33.9 billion HK dollars (about 4.37 billion U.S. dollars), 6.3 percent more than May and 81.2 percent more than June 2013.

The registry received 7,404 sale and purchase agreements for all building units in the month, up 9.1 percent on May and 60.4 percent year-on-year.

The total consideration for these agreements was 48 billion HK dollars, up 21.5 percent on May and 55.3 percent compared with June 2013.

The 12-month moving average for June was 5,468, 4.4 percent above the 12-month moving average for May, but 34.2 percent below that for June 2013. (1 U.S. dollar = 7.75 HK dollars)
