Jixian Saves Land as Gold ����Tongjiang-Sanya Expressway, starting from Tongjiang City in northern Heilongjiang and ending at Sanya City in the south of Heilongjiang Province, including a distance of 38.2km over Jixian County, forms part of the communications network of expressway construction in today's China. In construction of the Jixian County section, a total of 2,168 mu of land has been permanently used, including 1,797 mu of farmland in addition to 660.6 mu including 291.8 mu of farmland that had once been used to a temporary purpose. ����Jixian County has a population of 737,000 living on a per-capita amount of about 5 mu of farmland. In construction of the Tongjiang-Sanya Expressway, a stingy use of land had been made as if it were gold by builders on the 38.2km Jixian section which has been placed merely at a per-capita average of 1.89 square meters.
