Chinese President Meets Mongolian Press Delegation

  Chinese President Jiang Zemin expressed the hope on July 7 that his forthcoming State visit to Mongolia will add substantial contents to solid good-neighborly, friendly and cooperative relations between the two nations.

  Jiang made the remarks during a meeting with a Mongolian press delegation led by Terbishiin Chimeddorj.

  Jiang will visit Mongolia between July 15-17 at the invitation of Mongolian President Nachagyn Bagbandy.

  The Chinese president said the visit would mark the 50th anniversary of Sino-Mongolian diplomatic ties and the fifth anniversary of the China-Mongolia Treaty on Friendly Cooperative Relations.

  He said that the relations between the two nations featuring long-term stability, mutual trust and healthy growth reflect the fundamental interests and common aspirations of the two countries.

  Jiang said China and Mongolia should engage in concerted efforts to further promote the growth of the relationship.

  The Chinese president briefed the delegation on the current status and future prospects for Sino-Mongolian relations, as well as economic and trade cooperation.

  Jiang praised the positive role the Mongolian press has played in promoting mutual understanding and friendship between the people of the two countries.

  He asked the delegation to convey his warmest greetings and sincere regards to the Mongolian people.

  Chimeddorj said Jiang's forthcoming visit is of "historic significance" and expressed his admiration for China's healthy and rapid economic growth. (Xinhua)
