China Chinese Vice-Premier Meets Danish FM

Chinese Vice-Premier Qian Qichen told visiting Danish Foreign Minister Niels Petersen on November 10 that China will adhere to its independent foreign policy of peace in order to safeguard world peace in the new millennium.

While adhering to the reform and open-up policy, China will strive for the common development of all mankind, Qian said.

He said that recent years have seen the smooth development of relations between China and Denmark, one of the first Western countries to recognize and establish diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China.

China looks forward to the visit of Danish Prime Minister Poul Rasmussen next year when the two countries celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

Peterson spoke highly of China's responsible attitude and important role in international affairs, and expressed his hope that the two countries will further their cooperation on important world issues.
