World Clinton Welcomes US-China Agreement on WTO

Visiting US President Bill Clinton expressed his pleasure in Ankara on November 15 over the successful conclusion of an agreement in Beijing earlier the same day on China's entry to the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Speaking at a press conference here with Turkish President Suleyman Demirel, Clinton described the agreement as a profoundly important step which would rapidly lead to China's membership in the WTO. "I think this is a good agreement for China and for America and for the world," he added.

Clinton also said that he would do his utmost to push the US Congress to ratify the agreement.
