Culture China Fashion Week Draws International Attention

The '99 China Fashion Week scheduled for December 2-7 in the Chinese capital has drawn worldwide attention.

Fashion designers from more than 30 countries have applied to participate, with a total of 112 fashion design entries competing for prizes in the "Chic Chinois Design 21" design competition sponsored by UNESCO.

The finals of the 20th World Super Model Competition will also be held during the Fashion Week.

Among the international celebrities expected to attend will be columnists and fashion critics from the international media, representatives of famous fashion labels, and the president of the Hongkong Fashion Designers Association. Laurent Teto of Christian Dior will also be present at the awarding ceremony of the Fashion Week.

Sumie Sasaki, professor at the Japan Bunka Fashion College, will hold a show of fashions designed by her and her Chinese students.
