China Wei Jianxing Stresses Importance of Anti-Corruption Education

Wei Jianxing, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), has called for improving education work in building a honest and clean government and making further efforts in curbing corruption.

Wei, who is also secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, made the remark at a national conference on discipline inspection and education work held in Xi'an, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province from December 11 to 13.

The Party has a fine tradition of carrying out ideological and political work. Education is crucial to building a clean Party and government.

Wei urged efforts to improve the ideology of Party officials and members to help them resist dishonest practices.

The Party is working hard to fight corruption under the guidance of Deng Xiaoping's theory and the leadership of the CPC, Wei said. The anti-corruption efforts should be conducive to China's economic reforms, development and stability, he said.

Wei also urged the media to play an active role in exposing corruption and dishonest practices.
