China FM Spokeswoman on Sino-Vietnamese Land Border Treaty

The signing of the treaty of land border between China and Vietnam will be a major event in the history of bilateral relations, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue in Beijing on December 30.

Zhang told a news conference that this also reflects that the two countries will bring a land border of peace, friendship, cooperation and stability into the 21st century, promoting long- standing stability in border areas and further development of good- neighborly Sino-Vietnamese relations, and making a major contribution to peace and stability in the region.

Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan left here for Vietnam earlier today to sign the treaty of land border between the two countries, Zhang said.
