World Chinese Defense Minister Arrives in London for Official Visit

Chinese Defense Minister Chi Haotian arrived in London on Tuesday for an official good-will visit to the United Kingdom.

Chi, also vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission and a state councilor, is paying the visit at the invitations of British Defense Secretary Geoff Hoon.

Chi's entourage, including Political Commissar of the PLA Second Artillery Forces Sui Mingtai, Deputy Commander of the PLA Beijing Military Area Command Zang Wenqing, chief of staff of the PLA Air Force Zheng Shenxia, Chief of staff of Shenyang Military Area Command Wang Jianmin, director of the Defense Ministry's Foreign Affairs Office Luo Bin, and Deputy Chief of staff of the PLA Navy Wang Yucheng, also arrived.

Chinese Ambassador to Britain, Ma Zhengang, and Military Attache Yan Kunsheng were at the Airport to greet General Chi.

Britain is the first leg of Chi's four-state official good-will tour. He is also scheduled to visit Russia, the Republic of Korea and Mongolia. (Xinhua)
