Sports US 1-1 against Iran in Soccer Game

A second half goal from Chris Armas gave the United States a 1-1 tie against the visiting Iranian team in an international soccer friendly in Pasadena, California, on January 16.

In a rematch of their 1998 World Cup game, which Iran won 2-1, the United States kept pressure on the Iranians by attacking from the start.

But Iran was ahead just seven minutes through Mehdi Mahdavikia and the Americans had to wait until the second half to equalize.

Armas blasted a left-foot shot into the net after receiving a Cobi Jones pass in the 48th minute.
