Culture Ningxia to Hold International Symposium on Rock Paintings

An international symposium on rock paintings and the International Rock Painting Committee's annual conference will be held in Yinchuan, capital of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, in September.

Chinese and overseas scholars and archaeologists to attend the symposium and conference are expected to discuss the feasibility of establishing a World Rock Painting Museum and a Rock Painting Park at Mount Helan in Ningxia, home to tens of thousands of rock paintings carved by nomads in northern China some 2,000 years ago.

Ningxia held a similar symposium and an annual conference of the committee on rock paintings in 1991.
