Bar Association to Further Qualify Chinese Lawyers

The China Bar Association will train more qualified lawyers as part of the country's efforts to participate in the process of economic globalization.

Gao Zongze, president of the Bar Association, said it is inevitable that Chinese lawyers will become part of the international law community as the country seek entry into the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Apart from law, the training will also involve a broader knowledge of international politics, economics, culture and language, Gao said.

A qualified lawyer will be judged not only on his professional knowledge of the law, but moral standards as well, and this is what the training will involve, he added.
