China Liver Transplant Successful in Southwest China

Yue Wei, a well-known organ-grinder in China, is recovering at a hospital in Chongqing following a successful whole liver transport late last month.

The 10-hour operation was performed by a medical team at the Southwest Hospital affiliated with the No.3 Medical College of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.

Yue was rushed to the hospital on December 24 in a coma, and was found to be suffering from serious liver failure.

Liver experts at the hospital carried out the transplant on December 26, and Yue regained consciousness three days after the operation.

The Southwest Hospital has performed a number of successful liver transplants in the past years.
