Business Facts and Figures of Trade with Six Continents in 1999

Following are the figures of China's trade volume with Asia, Europe, North America, Latin America, Oceania and Africa last year, provided by the General Administration of Customs.

-- China's trade volume with other Asian countries and regions amounted to US$ 204.269 billion, up 10.2 percent from 1998. China's exports rose 4.5 percent to US$102.579 billion, while imports from them surged 16.7 percent to US$ 101.690 billion.

-- China's trade with Europe boosted 14.0 percent to US$ 68.129 billion, among which exports stood at US$ 35.475 billion, up 6.1 percent, and imports surged 24 percent to US$ 32.654 billion.

-- Trade with North America amounted to US$ 66.204 billion, up 11.8 from the previous year; exports grew 10.8 percent to 44.368 billion dollars, while imports increased 14.1 to US$ 21.816 billion.

-- Sino-Latin American trade volume was US$ 8.260 billion, a slight 0.6 percent decrease from 1998. Exports dropped 1 percent to US$ 5.269 billion, and imports budged 0.1 percent upward to US$ 2.991 billion.

-- Trade volume between China and Oceania hit US$ 7.304 billion, up 25.5 percent over 1998; exports reached US$ 3.113 billion, up 16.0 percent, and imports shot up 33.7 percent to US$ 4.191 billion.

-- Sino-African trade reached 6.484 billion U.S. dollars, up 17. 2 percent. Exports to Africa rose only 1.3 percent to 4.108 billion U.S. dollars, whereas imports sky-rocketed by an impressive 60.9 percent to 2.375 billion dollars.
