Sci-Tech Breakthrough Achieved in Artificial Raising of Giant Panda Cubs

Under the meticulous care of the staff of the China Giant Panda Protection Center in Wolong Nature Reserve, Sichuan Province, the five giant panda cubs who were born after 1998 have all survived.

This marked a breakthrough in the technology of artificial raising of giant pandas in China as a result of several years' efforts.

The Center dedicated to the study of artificial raising of giant pandas in 1991, but until 1997, this effort was unsuccessful, as six cubs died, three of them died in 1997 alone.
