Open Time Extended for Custom Transaction at China and Russia Border

As agreed between China and Russia, the open time at ports of Suifenghe and Dongning in Heilongjiang Province and Hunchun of Jilin Province at the border between China and Russia has been extended from 8 to 12 hours per day since March 1.

An eight-hour open time per day is far short of needs the brisk development of the Sino-Russia border trade. Last January, a trial of opening with no break at noontime was carried out at the three ports mentioned above. Statistics of the Suifenghe Port show that by the end of February, the number of people, goods and cars entering and leaving from the port had increased 59.9, 67.8 and 68 percent respectively as against that of the same period last year.
