Shanghai Hosts APEC 5th Investment Symposium

The fifth investment symposium of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), with its main theme focusing on "rehabilitating economic activities through incessant flow-in of foreign capital", was held in Shanghai on March 13.

Assistant Minster of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Ma Xiuhong made a keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the symposium. She made it clear that free trade investment, measures facilitating development of trade and making investment and economic and technical cooperation are three pillars to ensure the goal of the APEC to be achieved.

She also pointed out that China, as a member of APEC, has all along taken an active part in a variety of APEC activities, including cooperation in investment, and China is willing to make more contributions to the effort for developing regional free trade and investment

Cheng Liangyu, standing deputy Mayor of Shanghai, who also made a speech at the opening ceremony, briefed his confidence that more extensive and in-depth discussions on investment will be held at the symposium and that will definitely further promote international "win-win" cooperation.
