Election in Taiwan Province concludes

The election in Taiwan Province concluded on Saturday and Chen Shui-bian took the lead in the election, according to Taiwan press.

After 78.5 percent of the votes had been counted, Chen had won 41.1 percent. Independent James Soong had 35.1 percent, and Lien Chan of the ruling Kuomintang trailed at 22.9 percent, local Formosa Television said. (Xinhua News Agency)
