China, ROK Discuss Technology Cooperation

Government officials, scientists and technol to discuss cooperation between the two countries in high and new technologies.

Song Jian, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, was among those present at the seminar, which was organized by the ROK embassy.

Song said in his speech that with concerted efforts from both sides, China and the ROK have made great progress in expanding cooperation in the field of high and new technologies in recent years.

The two countries have jointly launched a number of research institutions and nearly 100 cooperative projects in science and technology, according to Song.

He said that the number of people involved in science and technology exchanges is also growing.

Such increasing cooperation between the two countries will help the development of technologies in both countries, Song noted.

He pointed out that China and the Republic of Korea are neighbors and share similar cultural backgrounds. And cooperation is mutually complementary due to the differences in resources and stages of social and economic development of the two countries, thus with a bright future.

Government officials and people from the scientific and technological communities of the two countries participated in the seminar and held in-depth discussions on technology innovation policies, the science and technology development plans of the two countries, and cooperation projects in the fields of telecommunications, aerospace, nuclear energy, and high-speed railway construction.
