U.S. Mail.com Sets Up JV with Chinese Internet Firm

The U.S.-based Internet company Mail.com will set up a joint venture with the Chinese Internet firm Elong.com to expand business in the Asian market, the Economic Information Daily reported Monday.

The new company will be called Asia.com, with Elong.com at its core, and will set up branches and offer services in countries and regions throughout Asia, including the Republic of Korea, Singapore, and Thailand, as well as Hong Kong.

Asia.com will explore the e-commerce market, mainly "business to business" (B-to-B) and "business to customer" (B-to-C) services.

At the same time, Elong.com, an Internet content provider (ICP) focusing on urban life in China, will offer various new commercial services including travel, housing, employment, and finance.
