U.S. Companies Vow to Increase Investment in China

A survey over 130 United States companies in China conducted by the American Chamber of Commerce in China (ACCC) shows that 88 percent of the companies will expand their businesses in China.

The results of the survey were released recently in the year 2000 white paper of "American companies in China" by the ACCC. There is prevailing optimism among U.S. investors toward the Chinese market despite ups and downs in bilateral relations.

Direct investment from the U.S. increased by over 10 percent last year.

The white paper noted that for U.S. companies, a favorable business environment means that they can operate in stable and reliable conditions. And the most important element of business environment lies in the legal system of industrial and commercial management.

The U.S. companies hope that China will enter the World Trade Organization as soon as possible.
