China, Ghana Cooperate in Traditional Medicine Practice

Ghana is currently collaborating with China to promote the manufacture and marketing of traditional medicine in the west African country, Ghana News Agency reported on Friday.

The agency quoted Minister of Health Kweku Danso as saying Ghanaians use traditional medicine a lot so there is the need to improve its production and efficacy to bring it to the same level as orthodox medicine.

The minister made the remarks in the capital Accra while meeting a seven- member delegation from the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which is on a five-day visit to Ghana to discuss modalities for the practice, training and control of traditional medicine in the west African country.

The delegation is also scheduled to visit Ghana's well-known Centre for Scientific Research into Plant Medicine, the Food and Drugs Board and Traditional Medicine Practice Clinics to see how best Chinese traditional medicine could be integrated into the locally manufactured ones.
