Shanghai Holds Animal Festival

The fourth Shanghai Animal Festival opened Shanghai on April 10, with "Loving Peace, Protecting the Environment, and Caring for Animals" as its theme. The Shanghai Zoo will present over 6,000 rare animals from 600 species during the two-month festival period. The zoo disclosed that for the first time, it will show to the public a couple of white tigers.

The zoo also invited a circus from Kazakhstan and a kite performance troupe from east China's Shandong Province. The festival attracted an average of 500,000 tourists every time since it debuted in 1997.
